Migrant workers face significant challenges on their journey to work in Canada, faced with large recruiter fees and exploitation and racism by their employers. When confronted with the situation of losing status, migrant workers are faced with a choice – to stay in Canada or return home. Very little is known about the workers that choose to stay, how many there are, and what their life is like. This report by Jason Foster and Marco Luciano examines the lives of undocumented migrant workers living in Alberta with 27 recommendations to government to make Canada’s immigration system fair and just for all.
