Shannon Bedford is a doctoral student at Memorial University in the Psy.D program, supervised by Dr. Julie Gosselin in the Family Resilience Laboratory. For her doctoral thesis, she is examining the parental experience of mothers in Newfoundland and Labrador, including the impact that being in a mobile relationship can have on mothers and families. Data has been collected through a provincial survey to describe maternal wellbeing, family structure, community factors, presence of mobile workers in relationships, and parental sense of competence. One of the objectives of this study is to determine how mobile work influences maternal wellbeing and the unique aspects that mobile relationships may have on mothers. Shannon has a BSc. in Psychology from the University of Ottawa and looks forward to analyzing and disseminating the research from her dissertation.
