Workers’ Resource Centre

cwrcThe Calgary Workers’ Resource Centre (CWRC) is a not-for-profit organization based in Calgary, Alberta. The CWRC’s mission is to develop the individual and collective capacity of Calgarians to understand and achieve their employment rights and benefits by providing information, support and representation to individuals who need help understanding and accessing their benefits and legal entitlements.

The CWRC’s clients come from all occupational backgrounds and walks of life and many are engaged in employment-related geographical mobility. As an organization involved in the delivery of frontline services to workers from across Canada and beyond, the CWRC has witnessed firsthand many of the impacts and social consequences this mobility has on workers and their families. As a partner with On the Move, the CWRC believes a better understanding of the transition points in the lives of workers on the move can make important contributions to the fabric of these workers’s lives, workers who represent a large and rapidly growing – yet also in many cases very vulnerable – proportion of the labour force in Alberta. The On the Move Partnership will help identify ways that community resources can be mobilized and/or adjusted to better support workers and add to the conversation regarding relevant immigration, temporary foreign worker, labour market and social policies.
