The Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union (NSGEU) is a labour organization representing 29,000 public sector workers throughout Nova Scotia. The largest provincial labour organization in Nova Scotia, the NSGEU is affiliated with the National Union of Public and General Employees, the NS Federation of Labour, and the Canadian Labour Congress. NSGEU members work throughout the province in diverse areas of the public sector, including the provincial civil service, health care and community care, school boards and post-secondary institutions, liquor stores, municipal offices and corrections facilities.

The NSGEU recognizes that employment-related geographical mobility is becoming an increasingly prevalent factor its members’ lives. Research undertaken by the On the Move team will therefore help the organization to continue to respond effectively to the changing work environment of its membership.
