Joy Brander is a MA candidate in Social Anthropology at Dalhousie University, Halifax. Her current research initiatives focus on employment-related geographical mobility (E-RGM) of homecare workers in Nova Scotia, excluding nurses and physicians. The research examines the possible challenges and opportunities of doing mobile work, in a carework sector, from the perspective of the workers themselves. Her research also explores the emotional labour involved in the nature of homecare work and how the worker experiences and copes in the various areas of their everyday lives, such as at work with clients and colleagues, at home with their family, and within their communities with friends and acquaintances.
Joy graduated in 2011 with a BA in Psychology and Anthropology from Saint Mary’s University, Halifax.
