The On the Move Partnership is investigating the diverse forms and changing patterns of employment-related geographical mobility (E-RGM), and its multiple effects at work, home and in the community. Our research will track regional, sectoral and socio-demographic patterns and trends in E-RGM since 1980, as well as the changing policies and legislation that have contributed to E-RGM and its consequences.
Certain sectors experience higher degrees of E-RGM, and research is being undertaken in a cross-section of these. Research will take place in sites all across Canada, with comparative analysis to E-RGM work being done elsewhere in the world. As an interdisciplinary collaborative project, a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods are being employed.
